How to Prepare for Anywhere Your Beach Adventure Takes You

Generally, when someone takes a trip to the beach, they know why they’re going. They’re headed to the sand and surf for specific activities, or sometimes specifically to do nothing. On the other hand, if you’re on a first-time beach trip or you’re just a go-with-the-flow adventurous type, then you may not be entirely sure where the day will take you.

Fishing Shirts

Beaches offer the opportunity to adventure in the water: You could fish, sail, kayak, surf, swim, or just lounge with a drink. Beaches are wonderful places to be but are best enjoyed prepared. Knowing whether you should be packing shirts for fishing, swimsuits for lounging, or otherwise being prepared, can truly make a day at the beach, well, a day at the beach!

Pack Versatile Clothing Options

Just as important as what you should wear to the beach is what you shouldn’t wear. For instance, wearing a sweater to the beach is generally not a great idea. While the beach can get cold, for the most part trips to beaches are warmer weather affairs, and sand has a way of getting everywhere it’s possible for sand to go. Dealing with a sand-saturated sweater is a pain. To keep warm in case of windy or chilly weather, pack a waterproof jacket and lots of layers. Avoid fabrics that don’t react well with water and those that take a long time to dry, like suede, leather, denim, and wool. Sandals are great for the beach, but they are terrible for wearing on a boat, so bring at least one pair of closed-toed shoes.

The “Just Lounging” Outfit

When you’re lounging around, you want a stylish outfit that’s comfortable, cool, and gives good skin coverage. Unless sunbathing is the goal, avoiding direct sun-to-skin exposure as much as possible is a good idea. So, along with your swimsuit, bring some light outerwear. As counterintuitive as it sounds, keeping cool is generally better accomplished by covering up than it is stripping down. Consider lightweight, breathable fabrics like high-quality long sleeve ring-spun combed cotton Tshirts for staying cool but remaining protected. Lightweight, non-denim pants also make sense. If you do opt for shorts, consider fishing shorts, like a polyester-spandex blend. They offer good protection, are light and cool, usually water-resistant, and tend to be anti-chafe. Always include a good pair of polarized sunglasses and a hat.

Performance Gear for Going on the Water

When you’re going on the water, check out high-performance polyester fishing shirts. The best high-quality, high-performance fishing shirts are generally going to be made from polyester that is engineered to wick moisture away and dry quickly. That’s going to be important if you’re getting wet. It likewise provides excellent protection from the sun while remaining light and breathable enough that you’re not going to overheat. Remember, whenever you’re on a boat, wear close-toed shoes, wear those polarized sunglasses, and put on a hat. Don’t forget seasickness remedies if you get seasick or haven’t been on a watercraft before. Most importantly, be prepared, be safe, and have fun.
