Beach Packing for a Tropical Cruise or Vacation

It’s almost time! You’re almost on your way to a luxury cruise ship or a far-flung tropical beach destination for a week or two of fun, relaxation, and water activities. Whether you’re expecting to be hanging out at swim-up bars, parasailing, or taking a boat out to do exotic fishing, it’s time to pack everything you need to make the most of the trip. You’ll need a variety of clothing depending on what you’re planning on doing. After all, no one wants to have a day at the beach tainted because they failed to pack some good women’s and men fishing shirts. When you’re headed to the tropics on a cruise or vacation, prepare for everything you might want to do—fun in and on the water, and lounging in the sun.

Long Sleeve Fishing Shirts

Dressing for the Heat

Before getting into specifics, it’s good to know how best to beat the heat. Because it is going to be hot. If you’re unfamiliar with tropical weather, it’s humid as well as sweltering, and can be unpredictable, so staying cool as best you can is important. Counterintuitively, the key to staying cool is covering up. The more of your skin the sun hits, the hotter you’ll be. In order to stay cool and comfortable, however, the fabric needs to be light, breathable, and ideally moisture wicking. That means investing in long sleeve fishing shirts, long sleeve Tshirts, and lightweight pants made with high-quality materials.

For Lounging on the Beach

Nothing says tropical paradise like lounging under a beach umbrella, drink in hand. The exception to the “cover up to stay cooler” rule is when you’re out of the sun. If you’re lounging in the shade, opt for a good Tshirt and lightweight fishing shorts. For the air-conditioned beachside bar, consider a long sleeve Tshirt. Accessorizing with a good pair of polarized sunglasses and a hat will both contribute to your style and comfort.

For Playing on the Water

For playing on the water, whether fishing, kayaking, sailing, or engaging in any other water-based leisure activity, invest in some high-performance long sleeve fishing shirts for comfort and protection. The best fishing clothes tend to be made of lightweight, high-performance polyester and polyester blends that are optimized for wicking away moisture and drying quickly. Those are exactly the attributes you’re looking for in the tropics. When you’re on the water, often with little shade and intense sun doubled by its reflection off the water, don’t go out without a quality pair of polarized sunglasses and a good hat.

Pack What You Need, Leave What You Don’t

Now that the items you should bring have been covered, how about what not to bring? While everyone likes to look good, it’s generally a good idea to refrain from bringing expensive jewelry to tropical beaches. Traveling can increase the risk of theft, while sand and surf can suck down expensive jewelry in a second. If you’re going on a cruise, check and see what they provide in your cabin, because you likely won’t need to bring grooming products, as they often come complimentary. Finally, remember not to over-pack, both to lighten your burden and leave you with room for souvenirs!
